Library 2.0 – idea #4

A libraries’ collection of local images is digitised and put into an online retrieval site. (www.leodis.net as an example) We know where the images were taken, and can determine the cooordinates using maps or a GPS device.

These can be saved alongside the image data, and used to plot a nice googlemap with little thumbnails of the image in question, clickable and linkable etc.

On the same theme you could plot recordings of local people’s accents according to where they were living when their accent was ‘learnt’. A fantastic way to visualise how migrations of people may have affected the way we speak.
